stunNing travelbook 1 - Switzerland (Bern + Interlaken)

24~26 Feb Bern + Interlaken

The Click 5 (missing Hailing :( ) decided to have a super impromptu weekend trip to Bern and Interlaken! Searching for accommodation & things to do in Bern/Interlaken -- that's what we do in class haha!

-It feels like a tourist when I visit the German speaking parts of Switzerland-

Bern is gloomy & cold on the 1st day of our visit!:(

It looks like a scene of horror movies lol.
But still we decided to have a picnic at a park after checking into the hostel! HAHA Hands are freezing and we finish our food in less than 10mins lol.

This is Lianne! The only friend from SG who's having exchange in HEC Lausanne! We attend lectures together (to study to make travel plans) & we're each others personal photographer! Haha!

After a quick lunch, we drop by the Bern Minster, which is just beside the park! The sky is just too dark to take nice photos :(

The stained glasses are quite pretty!

And I like the interior design (& colours) of this church too!

We continue strolling around this quaint Swiss capital after the church visit, not knowing that how crowded it could be during the weekends haha!

Hello Clock Tower, hehe.

I really like architectures like this!:)

Must take a photo here when you have a famous tourist district which is empty all for yourself. Haha!

Very serious in learning the map of Bern!
Still getting lost in UNIL but am able to figure out the correct way to go when travelling *cries* Sorry my inner GPS just refuses to operate for daily routines haha!

And we fountains like ^ at almost everywhere in Bern! Apparently each of them has an unique story!

So 4 of us walked for like 15++ mins to the bear park....but.... (On the side note, Hpone is also a left hander haha!)

They are hibernating sobsss
PS: Bern (the name of this capital) is originated from bears!

Nevertheless, the view of Aare river is beautiful! I can imagine that it will be prettier during summer!:)

We spend the evening chilling around & take the tram to unknown places for fun because we got a tix from the hostel that allows us to take public transport here for FREE! You don't know how much it hurts to take public transports in Switzerland.... It costs a finger for each short trip LOL.

We decided to pay a visit to a casino nearby after having a simple dinner from Migros takeaway (Why we don't have this in Lausanne???) but we end up not entering the casino because we can't wear coats/jackets into the casino & we have to pay for the cloth keeping service LOLOLOL. So we have a good talk from life in Switzerland to politics, internships, studies, personal background and all haha!

25/2 Bern >> Interlaken

The weather is much better today!:)

We kick start our day with a visit to a market in front of the Parliament Square!

Nothing is cheap even when it's just a local market LOL. Does this mean that the locals are rich too? Hmm..

The sky is prettier today that I have to take more photos of the streets, clock tower & tram while my shopaholic friend are busy shopping haha! I don't understand why things in Lausanne is more expensive than the capital's lol.

Bid goodbye to Bern and we're leaving for Interlaken! :)

Although there's nothing much to do in Bern during winter(?) (like the roses in the rose garden are sleeping/ bears are hibernating LOL) but I really like this city! To me it's so antique and classic! :) And the pace here is slower too!:) I don't mind coming back to Bern again before I leave Switzerland!:)

Intense face during lunch time cause I take my lunch very seriously HAHA.

And we are greeted by views like this after a 2-hour train ride! :)

Really enjoy wandering without purpose at places like this! (Although I 'm normally more of a stick-to-plan person but I 'll slack to the max when I decided to chill lol) So we walk from Interlaken Ost to Interlaken West HAHA & we hop on a train heading to Lauterbrunnen!
(Lauterbrunnen= place with many waterfalls & Interlaken= place with many lakes)

We initially thought of sightseeing the waterfalls here instead of going up to Jungfrau like the rest (Asian Unite) as we are so unprepared (wearing only thin layers)  but we're so super impromptu that we decided to take a cable car from Grutschalp & a 5km hike to Murren HAHAHA!

Us: Ohhh the cable car tix is cheap! Should we take a ride? Hmm.... but our outfits aren't proper for a hike ah ahaha!
(ask the counter officer)
Us: Do you think if it's ok for us to hike like this *pointing to our outfits*
Counter Officer: Yes, yes! *nodding his head* Y'all should buy the tix & take the next cable car in 3 minutes!
Us: What?! 3 mins!?
(buy tix immediately)
(3 mins later... on the cable car  LOL)

So prettyyyyy

So prettyyyyy

Us before the hike! (before the cold hits us hahah!)
Seriously ah I don't think I'm short but in fact I'm really short even among the Asian Unite group! LOL Why ah I supposed that my height is the average of Asian females? -____-

Not sure why but we keep seeing people climbing down but no one is climbing upwards??? Hahaha! We're busy discussing what will happen to us if we lost in the mountain LOL.

I think I can perfectly camouflage a tree with my outfit HAHA

Found a random house on the way to Murren!

And lots of woods???

Hello, meet our new friend HAHA.

It's freezing cold to step into the snows too!
We're walking very carefully too as it's quite slippery! Normally Gibson & Hpone walk very fast (longer legs LOL) but this time Gibson has to walk slower cause he's very a pair of casual, non-slip proof shoes haha!

Decided to have a break & enjoy our chocolate after 40mins hike!
I love seeing white sceneries like this!:)

Continue our journey to Murren!

And we're here!!! Face is so red here cause it's too cold haha!

It's such an impromptu decision to hike but I'm super glad that we made this decision earlier! Personally feel that it's more worth it than taking the train to Jungfrau (& it's super expensive!) as I get to enjoy the scenery throughout the hike! And meeting strangers who're also hiking & chit-chatting along the journey! :) #YOLO

And we have to rush down to the town to buy dinner before the grocery store closes!
The chit-chat/ gossip sessions continues until we have to sleep haha!

26/2 Thun >> Lausanne

Morning! I'm missing this spinach quiche!

Go out earlier to take another shot of Inrerlaken when everyone's still not ready to check out yet.

Early morning hence puffy eyes hahaha.

And a kind passerby offers to take a photo for both of us!:)

Hello Thun (& Lake Thun haha!:))
It's also super calm & pretty over here! And it's less crowded probably cause it's not as popular as Interlaken & Bern!

We walk along the river & lake for 1++ hour to reach our final destination: Oberhofen Castle!

The views on the way are also amazing as usual hahaha!

And we finally reach this iconic castle! But honestly it's abit underwhelming because it's not as nice as expected! And it's closed until summer -_______- Nevertheless I don't feel our time & walk are wasted cause we get to see more around Lake Thun along our journey!:)

We come back to the old town of Thun (by bus this time haha!) & decided to visit another castle -- Thun Castle before leaving!

View from the Thun Castle!

Thun Castle! It's so hard to take a nice photo of Thun Castle though! Unless you take it from a helicopter la HAHA!

It's twas a fun weekend! Although it's super cold in Bern & Interlaken but we get to enjoy the stunning views with less tourists in the winter season!:)

I feel like dying everytime when a trip ends, my after-travel withdrawal symptoms are pretty serious LOL! I feel like burning money when I travel but I need more trips to recover HAHAHA!
Mmmm... gonna plan for a next weekend trip now haha!
